ORC WEEK 2: Wallpaper & More!
It’s Week 2 of the One Room Challenge and I am a tad behind my schedule as a I took a break Easter weekend to be with family but have hit the ground running this week!
I made some big decisions this week, primarily wallpaper and molding! Some of the wallpaper samples were delayed so I was somewhat on hold until they arrived as that informs the rest of the design.
What happened this week:
Selected wallpaper
Decided to add DIY wainscoting (send help!)
Purchased molding
Purchased faucet
WALLPAPER
Samples finally arrived and I have gone back and forth too many times to count but it came down to these two options below. They both happen to be Morris & Co patterns - the first one is Morris & Co X McGee & Co Pimpernel Ink and is actually a last minute sample I ordered. The second is the one shown in my moodboard.
I was surprised how much I like the darker one in person for our bathroom! I love the mix of the deeper tones and how they will complement our vanity. I always tell clients the bathroom is a fun space to go bold, so I am following my own advice and am going with it!
Here are a few other top options but the colors/pattern didn’t work for our bathroom. They’re gorgeous in person!
MOLDING
I decided to DIY wainscoting box trim molding to add depth and contrast against the darker wallpaper. So much time has been spent this week researching wainscoting how-to videos! But I am feeling like I have a pretty good handle on it (I say that now) and have purchased the chair rail and trim at Home Depot so aiming to start installing that next week!
FAUCET
Initially, I thought I would go with a faucet that was more traditional (was looking at this Kingston Brass style), but I saw this Signature Hardware faucet in Polished Nickel and love the mix of modern with traditional elements. Polished Nickel is such a great finish because it has a warm undertone, so it pairs well with many other metals.
Note: Always check eBay and Facebook Marketplace before purchasing. I was able to find this new in box at nearly half off of retail price on eBay!
VANITY HARDWARE
As a reminder, this is the antique gold hardware from Top Knobs I installed on our charcoal gray vanity when we moved in.
Putting it all together so far below!
