ORC WEEK 4: Picture Frame Molding

WEEK 1 | WEEK 2 | WEEK 3

We’re at the halfway point! Definitely feeling like it’s crunch time knowing the next 4 weeks will fly! Week 4 of the One Room Challenge was a big one! I completed the install of the picture frame molding and wallpaper is going up this Tuesday! It feels so good to have visual progress this week!

Here’s the week 4 plan:

  • Install picture frame molding - complete

  • Fill nail holes, sand and caulk - complete

  • Remove existing hardware (towel bar, towel ring, etc) - complete

  • Remove mirror - complete

  • Patch holes in drywall before wallpaper install - complete

  • Ordered more vanity lights - complete

  • Source vintage mirror - in process

  • Wallpaper install - scheduled for Tuesday (having professional install this)

MOLDING

I installed the chair rail in week 3 and finished cutting and installing all of the picture frame molding this week! It adds so much dimension and character to the space.

We live in condo without space to easily use an electric miter saw, so we opted for a miter box saw. We didn’t have many pieces to cut (6 picture frame boxes total) so the box saw worked well for us!

I used a laser level to install along with a handheld one to double and triple check. After the frames were up, I filled the nail holes, sanded and caulked. Now I just need to paint!

After wallpaper is up, my next step is deciding on paint color for the wainscoting. I am debating between a white or a lighter accent color pulled from the wallpaper. We shall see what I’m feeling once it’s up!

Below are priorities for next week. I want to ensure I have everything ordered to account for any delays and have plenty of time to style the space.

Week 5 To Do’s:

  • Decide on paint color for wainscoting

  • Paint wainscoting

  • Decide on vanity light

  • Install vanity light

  • Install faucet

  • Decide on mirror

  • Source & order decor items (vintage rug, art, accessories)

Don’t forget to check out the other designers to see their amazing room transformations!
